What is ACA, Aka The Affordable Care Act?

The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010 (PPACA) a.k.a. the Affordable Care Act (ACA) a.k.a. "Obamacare". What a mouthful! Most ard left in confusion when determing what it is the United States Government is fighting over. Let's give ubderstanding a chance. What is ACA?

In short the ACA was signed into law in 2010. Its main purposes were to provide health insurance to all Americans and lower healthcare insurance costs. rhe idea is that these goals would rhen lower Medicare (for "the poor") and Medicaid (for 65+). Solving many problems at once. One other thing the ACA did was restrict insurance companies in several ways including forcing them to take patients ib cases they would normally deny. The response from insurance companies?

House Speaker Paul D. Ryan reslonded for them by dropping this line about the ACA on CBS "Face The Nation", "It's not our job to make people do something that they don't want to do,". Really? So it's ok to mandate car insurance, workmen's compensation, but when people need insurance to guard their lives you don't want to drop a fine?

Health insurance is a lynchpin of our medical system. It allows prices to stay high enough to grow the field of medicibe with dedicated professionals. When people need healthcare and dont have insurance we all pay. Doctors pay too. They make the less making the field less desirable. The better physicians would  leave and seek countries with higher pay. The vacuum will fill with less qualified physicians directly lowering our bar of health care. The ACA was set to prevent that.

A small progressive fine is an excellant way to promote the purchase of health care. Why shouldn't we need it as bad as any other insurance? Mr. Ryan no offense but I know you are being told to hedge health insurance profits and feeedoms by aboloshing the ACA. The rest of the voters will know soon enough.

The fact is even if they repeal it, Obamacare forced the realization that you can make adjustments to our health care and insurance industries. Next  attempt? Trumpcare. The health insurance fix that is a compromise between the ACA and the failing system we had before.

And Ponce De Leon will get credit for Christopher Columbus' push for discovery. Sorry Obama. This is just one man's opinion.
